Surah Al-Mutaffifin المطففين

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ وَيْلٌ لِّلْمُطَفِّفِينَ
Saheeh International(1) Woe to those who give less [than due],[1878]

ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ٱكْتَالُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ يَسْتَوْفُونَ
Saheeh International(2) Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full.

وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمْ أَو وَّزَنُوهُمْ يُخْسِرُونَ
Saheeh International(3) But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss.

أَلَا يَظُنُّ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ أَنَّهُم مَّبْعُوثُونَ
Saheeh International(4) Do they not think that they will be resurrected

لِيَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ
Saheeh International(5) For a tremendous Day -

يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلنَّاسُ لِرَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ
Saheeh International(6) The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds?

كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَٰبَ ٱلْفُجَّارِ لَفِى سِجِّينٍ
Saheeh International(7) No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen.

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا سِجِّينٌ
Saheeh International(8) And what can make you know what is sijjeen?

كِتَٰبٌ مَّرْقُومٌ
Saheeh International(9) It is [their destination[1879] recorded in] a register inscribed.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
Saheeh International(10) Woe, that Day, to the deniers,

ٱلَّذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِيَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ
Saheeh International(11) Who deny the Day of Recompense.

وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِۦٓ إِلَّا كُلُّ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ
Saheeh International(12) And none deny it except every sinful transgressor.

إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
Saheeh International(13) When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples."

كَلَّا بَلْ رَانَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ
Saheeh International(14) No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning.[1880]

كَلَّآ إِنَّهُمْ عَن رَّبِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَّمَحْجُوبُونَ
Saheeh International(15) No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned.[1881]

ثُمَّ إِنَّهُمْ لَصَالُوا۟ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
Saheeh International(16) Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire.

ثُمَّ يُقَالُ هَٰذَا ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ
Saheeh International(17) Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny."

كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَٰبَ ٱلْأَبْرَارِ لَفِى عِلِّيِّينَ
Saheeh International(18) No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in ʿilliyyūn.

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَ
Saheeh International(19) And what can make you know what is ʿilliyyūn?

كِتَٰبٌ مَّرْقُومٌ
Saheeh International(20) It is [their destination[1882] recorded in] a register inscribed

يَشْهَدُهُ ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ
Saheeh International(21) Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allāh].

إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ لَفِى نَعِيمٍ
Saheeh International(22) Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure

عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ
Saheeh International(23) On adorned couches, observing.

تَعْرِفُ فِى وُجُوهِهِمْ نَضْرَةَ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
Saheeh International(24) You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure.

يُسْقَوْنَ مِن رَّحِيقٍ مَّخْتُومٍ
Saheeh International(25) They will be given to drink [pure] wine[1883] [which was] sealed.

خِتَٰمُهُۥ مِسْكٌ وَفِى ذَٰلِكَ فَلْيَتَنَافَسِ ٱلْمُتَنَٰفِسُونَ
Saheeh International(26) The last of it[1884] is musk. So for this let the competitors compete.

وَمِزَاجُهُۥ مِن تَسْنِيمٍ
Saheeh International(27) And its mixture is of Tasneem,[1885]

عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ
Saheeh International(28) A spring from which those near [to Allāh] drink.

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ أَجْرَمُوا۟ كَانُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ يَضْحَكُونَ
Saheeh International(29) Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed.

وَإِذَا مَرُّوا۟ بِهِمْ يَتَغَامَزُونَ
Saheeh International(30) And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances.

وَإِذَا ٱنقَلَبُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِمُ ٱنقَلَبُوا۟ فَكِهِينَ
Saheeh International(31) And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting.

وَإِذَا رَأَوْهُمْ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَضَآلُّونَ
Saheeh International(32) And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost."

وَمَآ أُرْسِلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ حَٰفِظِينَ
Saheeh International(33) But they had not been sent as guardians over them.

فَٱلْيَوْمَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلْكُفَّارِ يَضْحَكُونَ
Saheeh International(34) So Today[1886] those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers,

عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ
Saheeh International(35) On adorned couches, observing.

هَلْ ثُوِّبَ ٱلْكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَفْعَلُونَ
Saheeh International(36) Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do?
