بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ وَٱلصَّٰٓفَّٰتِ صَفًّا
Saheeh International (1) By those [angels] lined up in rows

فَٱلزَّٰجِرَٰتِ زَجْرًا
Saheeh International (2) And those who drive [the clouds]
See all translations of this verse →
فَٱلتَّٰلِيَٰتِ ذِكْرًا
Saheeh International (3) And those who recite the message,[1286]

إِنَّ إِلَٰهَكُمْ لَوَٰحِدٌ
Saheeh International (4) Indeed, your God is One,

رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَرَبُّ ٱلْمَشَٰرِقِ
Saheeh International (5) Lord of the heavens and the earth and that between them and Lord of the sunrises.[1287]

إِنَّا زَيَّنَّا ٱلسَّمَآءَ ٱلدُّنْيَا بِزِينَةٍ ٱلْكَوَاكِبِ
Saheeh International (6) Indeed, We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment of stars

وَحِفْظًا مِّن كُلِّ شَيْطَٰنٍ مَّارِدٍ
Saheeh International (7) And as protection against every rebellious devil
See all translations of this verse →
لَّا يَسَّمَّعُونَ إِلَى ٱلْمَلَإِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ وَيُقْذَفُونَ مِن كُلِّ جَانِبٍ
Saheeh International (8) [So] they may not listen to the exalted assembly [of angels] and are pelted from every side,[1288]

دُحُورًا وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ وَاصِبٌ
Saheeh International (9) Repelled; and for them is a constant punishment,

إِلَّا مَنْ خَطِفَ ٱلْخَطْفَةَ فَأَتْبَعَهُۥ شِهَابٌ ثَاقِبٌ
Saheeh International (10) Except one who snatches [some words] by theft, but they are pursued by a burning flame, piercing [in brightness].

فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَهُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَم مَّنْ خَلَقْنَآ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَٰهُم مِّن طِينٍ لَّازِبٍۭ
Saheeh International (11) Then inquire of them, [O Muḥammad], "Are they a stronger [or more difficult] creation or those [others] We have created?" Indeed, We created them [i.e., men] from sticky clay.

بَلْ عَجِبْتَ وَيَسْخَرُونَ
Saheeh International (12) But you wonder, while they mock,

وَإِذَا ذُكِّرُوا۟ لَا يَذْكُرُونَ
Saheeh International (13) And when they are reminded, they remember not.

وَإِذَا رَأَوْا۟ ءَايَةً يَسْتَسْخِرُونَ
Saheeh International (14) And when they see a sign, they ridicule.

وَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنْ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحْرٌ مُّبِينٌ
Saheeh International (15) And say, "This is not but obvious magic.

أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ
Saheeh International (16) When we have died and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected?

أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ
Saheeh International (17) And our forefathers [as well]?"

قُلْ نَعَمْ وَأَنتُمْ دَٰخِرُونَ
Saheeh International (18) Say, "Yes, and you will be [rendered] contemptible."

فَإِنَّمَا هِىَ زَجْرَةٌ وَٰحِدَةٌ فَإِذَا هُمْ يَنظُرُونَ
Saheeh International (19) It will be only one shout, and at once they will be observing.

وَقَالُوا۟ يَٰوَيْلَنَا هَٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ
Saheeh International (20) They will say, "O woe to us! This is the Day of Recompense."

هَٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ
Saheeh International (21) [They will be told], "This is the Day of Judgement which you used to deny."

ٱحْشُرُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ وَأَزْوَٰجَهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْبُدُونَ
Saheeh International (22) [The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds,[1289] and what they used to worship

مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ فَٱهْدُوهُمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
Saheeh International (23) Other than Allāh, and guide them to the path of Hellfire

وَقِفُوهُمْ إِنَّهُم مَّسْـُٔولُونَ
Saheeh International (24) And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned."

مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنَاصَرُونَ
Saheeh International (25) [They will be asked], "What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other?"

بَلْ هُمُ ٱلْيَوْمَ مُسْتَسْلِمُونَ
Saheeh International (26) But they, that Day, are in surrender.

وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
Saheeh International (27) And they will approach one another asking [i.e., blaming] each other.

قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ تَأْتُونَنَا عَنِ ٱلْيَمِينِ
Saheeh International (28) They will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right."[1290]

قَالُوا۟ بَل لَّمْ تَكُونُوا۟ مُؤْمِنِينَ
Saheeh International (29) They [i.e., the oppressors] will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers,
See all translations of this verse →
وَمَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَيْكُم مِّن سُلْطَٰنٍۭ بَلْ كُنتُمْ قَوْمًا طَٰغِينَ
Saheeh International (30) And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people.

فَحَقَّ عَلَيْنَا قَوْلُ رَبِّنَآ إِنَّا لَذَآئِقُونَ
Saheeh International (31) So the word [i.e., decree] of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment].

فَأَغْوَيْنَٰكُمْ إِنَّا كُنَّا غَٰوِينَ
Saheeh International (32) And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators."

فَإِنَّهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ فِى ٱلْعَذَابِ مُشْتَرِكُونَ
Saheeh International (33) So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment.

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ
Saheeh International (34) Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals.

إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوٓا۟ إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ
Saheeh International (35) Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allāh," were arrogant

وَيَقُولُونَ أَئِنَّا لَتَارِكُوٓا۟ ءَالِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِرٍ مَّجْنُونٍۭ
Saheeh International (36) And were saying, "Are we to leave our gods for a mad poet?"

بَلْ جَآءَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
Saheeh International (37) Rather, he [i.e., the Prophet (ﷺ)] has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers.

إِنَّكُمْ لَذَآئِقُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلْأَلِيمِ
Saheeh International (38) Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment,
See all translations of this verse →
وَمَا تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
Saheeh International (39) And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do -

إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
Saheeh International (40) But not the chosen servants of Allāh.

أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ رِزْقٌ مَّعْلُومٌ
Saheeh International (41) Those will have a provision determined -

فَوَٰكِهُ وَهُم مُّكْرَمُونَ
Saheeh International (42) Fruits;[1291] and they will be honored
See all translations of this verse →
فِى جَنَّٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
Saheeh International (43) In gardens of pleasure
See all translations of this verse →
عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مُّتَقَٰبِلِينَ
Saheeh International (44) On thrones facing one another.
See all translations of this verse →
يُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِكَأْسٍ مِّن مَّعِينٍۭ
Saheeh International (45) There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring,
See all translations of this verse →
بَيْضَآءَ لَذَّةٍ لِّلشَّٰرِبِينَ
Saheeh International (46) White and delicious to the drinkers;
See all translations of this verse →
لَا فِيهَا غَوْلٌ وَلَا هُمْ عَنْهَا يُنزَفُونَ
Saheeh International (47) No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated.

وَعِندَهُمْ قَٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرْفِ عِينٌ
Saheeh International (48) And with them will be women limiting [their] glances,[1292] with large, [beautiful] eyes,
See all translations of this verse →
كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَيْضٌ مَّكْنُونٌ
Saheeh International (49) As if they were [delicate] eggs, well-protected.
See all translations of this verse →
فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
Saheeh International (50) And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other.

قَالَ قَآئِلٌ مِّنْهُمْ إِنِّى كَانَ لِى قَرِينٌ
Saheeh International (51) A speaker among them will say, "Indeed, I had a companion [on earth].

يَقُولُ أَءِنَّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُصَدِّقِينَ
Saheeh International (52) Who would say, 'Are you indeed of those who believe
See all translations of this verse →
أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَدِينُونَ
Saheeh International (53) That when we have died and become dust and bones, we will indeed be recompensed?'"

قَالَ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّطَّلِعُونَ
Saheeh International (54) He will say,[1293] "Would you [care to] look?"

فَٱطَّلَعَ فَرَءَاهُ فِى سَوَآءِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
Saheeh International (55) And he will look and see him[1294] in the midst of the Hellfire.

قَالَ تَٱللَّهِ إِن كِدتَّ لَتُرْدِينِ
Saheeh International (56) He will say, "By Allāh, you almost ruined me.
See all translations of this verse →
وَلَوْلَا نِعْمَةُ رَبِّى لَكُنتُ مِنَ ٱلْمُحْضَرِينَ
Saheeh International (57) If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell].

أَفَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَيِّتِينَ
Saheeh International (58) Then, are we not to die
See all translations of this verse →
إِلَّا مَوْتَتَنَا ٱلْأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ
Saheeh International (59) Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?"

إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ
Saheeh International (60) Indeed, this is the great attainment.

لِمِثْلِ هَٰذَا فَلْيَعْمَلِ ٱلْعَٰمِلُونَ
Saheeh International (61) For the like of this let the workers [on earth] work.

أَذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ نُّزُلًا أَمْ شَجَرَةُ ٱلزَّقُّومِ
Saheeh International (62) Is that [i.e., Paradise] a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqūm?

إِنَّا جَعَلْنَٰهَا فِتْنَةً لِّلظَّٰلِمِينَ
Saheeh International (63) Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers.
See all translations of this verse →
إِنَّهَا شَجَرَةٌ تَخْرُجُ فِىٓ أَصْلِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
Saheeh International (64) Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire,
See all translations of this verse →
طَلْعُهَا كَأَنَّهُۥ رُءُوسُ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينِ
Saheeh International (65) Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils.
See all translations of this verse →
فَإِنَّهُمْ لَـَٔاكِلُونَ مِنْهَا فَمَالِـُٔونَ مِنْهَا ٱلْبُطُونَ
Saheeh International (66) And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies.

ثُمَّ إِنَّ لَهُمْ عَلَيْهَا لَشَوْبًا مِّنْ حَمِيمٍ
Saheeh International (67) Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water.
See all translations of this verse →
ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرْجِعَهُمْ لَإِلَى ٱلْجَحِيمِ
Saheeh International (68) Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire.
See all translations of this verse →
إِنَّهُمْ أَلْفَوْا۟ ءَابَآءَهُمْ ضَآلِّينَ
Saheeh International (69) Indeed they found their fathers astray.
See all translations of this verse →
فَهُمْ عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَٰرِهِمْ يُهْرَعُونَ
Saheeh International (70) So they hastened [to follow] in their footsteps.

وَلَقَدْ ضَلَّ قَبْلَهُمْ أَكْثَرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
Saheeh International (71) And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples,
See all translations of this verse →
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِم مُّنذِرِينَ
Saheeh International (72) And We had already sent among them warners.
See all translations of this verse →
فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ
Saheeh International (73) Then look how was the end of those who were warned -
See all translations of this verse →
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
Saheeh International (74) But not the chosen servants of Allāh.
See all translations of this verse →
وَلَقَدْ نَادَىٰنَا نُوحٌ فَلَنِعْمَ ٱلْمُجِيبُونَ
Saheeh International (75) And Noah had certainly called Us, and [We are] the best of responders.

وَنَجَّيْنَٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلْكَرْبِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
Saheeh International (76) And We saved him and his family from the great affliction.
See all translations of this verse →
وَجَعَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُۥ هُمُ ٱلْبَاقِينَ
Saheeh International (77) And We made his descendants those remaining [on the earth]
See all translations of this verse →
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
Saheeh International (78) And left for him [favorable mention] among later generations:

سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰ نُوحٍ فِى ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ
Saheeh International (79) "Peace upon Noah among the worlds."

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
Saheeh International (80) Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.
See all translations of this verse →
إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
Saheeh International (81) Indeed, he was of Our believing servants.
See all translations of this verse →
ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ
Saheeh International (82) Then We drowned the others [i.e., disbelievers].
See all translations of this verse →
وَإِنَّ مِن شِيعَتِهِۦ لَإِبْرَٰهِيمَ
Saheeh International (83) And indeed, among his kind was Abraham,
See all translations of this verse →
إِذْ جَآءَ رَبَّهُۥ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ
Saheeh International (84) When he came to his Lord with a sound heart
See all translations of this verse →
إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِۦ مَاذَا تَعْبُدُونَ
Saheeh International (85) [And] when he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?
See all translations of this verse →
أَئِفْكًا ءَالِهَةً دُونَ ٱللَّهِ تُرِيدُونَ
Saheeh International (86) Is it falsehood [as] gods other than Allāh you desire?
See all translations of this verse →
فَمَا ظَنُّكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ
Saheeh International (87) Then what is your thought about the Lord of the worlds?"

فَنَظَرَ نَظْرَةً فِى ٱلنُّجُومِ
Saheeh International (88) And he cast a look at the stars
See all translations of this verse →
فَقَالَ إِنِّى سَقِيمٌ
Saheeh International (89) And said, "Indeed, I am [about to be] ill."
See all translations of this verse →
فَتَوَلَّوْا۟ عَنْهُ مُدْبِرِينَ
Saheeh International (90) So they turned away from him, departing.
See all translations of this verse →
فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰٓ ءَالِهَتِهِمْ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَأْكُلُونَ
Saheeh International (91) Then he turned to their gods and said, "Do you not eat?[1295]

مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنطِقُونَ
Saheeh International (92) What is [wrong] with you that you do not speak?"
See all translations of this verse →
فَرَاغَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضَرْبًۢا بِٱلْيَمِينِ
Saheeh International (93) And he turned upon them a blow with [his] right hand.

فَأَقْبَلُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِ يَزِفُّونَ
Saheeh International (94) Then they [i.e., the people] came toward him, hastening.
See all translations of this verse →
قَالَ أَتَعْبُدُونَ مَا تَنْحِتُونَ
Saheeh International (95) He said, "Do you worship that which you [yourselves] carve,
See all translations of this verse →
وَٱللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمْ وَمَا تَعْمَلُونَ
Saheeh International (96) While Allāh created you and that which you do?"

قَالُوا۟ ٱبْنُوا۟ لَهُۥ بُنْيَٰنًا فَأَلْقُوهُ فِى ٱلْجَحِيمِ
Saheeh International (97) They said, "Construct for him a structure [i.e., furnace] and throw him into the burning fire."

فَأَرَادُوا۟ بِهِۦ كَيْدًا فَجَعَلْنَٰهُمُ ٱلْأَسْفَلِينَ
Saheeh International (98) And they intended for him a plan [i.e., harm], but We made them the most debased.

وَقَالَ إِنِّى ذَاهِبٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّى سَيَهْدِينِ
Saheeh International (99) And [then] he said, "Indeed, I will go to [where I am ordered by] my Lord; He will guide me.

رَبِّ هَبْ لِى مِنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ
Saheeh International (100) My Lord, grant me [a child] from among the righteous."

فَبَشَّرْنَٰهُ بِغُلَٰمٍ حَلِيمٍ
Saheeh International (101) So We gave him good tidings of a forbearing boy.
See all translations of this verse →
فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَعَهُ ٱلسَّعْىَ قَالَ يَٰبُنَىَّ إِنِّىٓ أَرَىٰ فِى ٱلْمَنَامِ أَنِّىٓ أَذْبَحُكَ فَٱنظُرْ مَاذَا تَرَىٰ قَالَ يَٰٓأَبَتِ ٱفْعَلْ مَا تُؤْمَرُ سَتَجِدُنِىٓ إِن شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ
Saheeh International (102) And when he reached with him [the age of] exertion,[1296] he said, "O my son, indeed I have seen in a dream that I [must] sacrifice you, so see what you think." He said, "O my father, do as you are commanded. You will find me, if Allāh wills, of the steadfast."

فَلَمَّآ أَسْلَمَا وَتَلَّهُۥ لِلْجَبِينِ
Saheeh International (103) And when they had both submitted[1297] and he put him down upon his forehead,
See all translations of this verse →
وَنَٰدَيْنَٰهُ أَن يَٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُ
Saheeh International (104) We called to him, "O Abraham,
See all translations of this verse →
قَدْ صَدَّقْتَ ٱلرُّءْيَآ إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
Saheeh International (105) You have fulfilled the vision." Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.

إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلْبَلَٰٓؤُا۟ ٱلْمُبِينُ
Saheeh International (106) Indeed, this was the clear trial.
See all translations of this verse →
وَفَدَيْنَٰهُ بِذِبْحٍ عَظِيمٍ
Saheeh International (107) And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice,[1298]
See all translations of this verse →
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
Saheeh International (108) And We left for him [favorable mention] among later generations:
See all translations of this verse →
سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
Saheeh International (109) "Peace upon Abraham."
See all translations of this verse →
كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
Saheeh International (110) Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.
See all translations of this verse →
إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
Saheeh International (111) Indeed, he was of Our believing servants.
See all translations of this verse →
وَبَشَّرْنَٰهُ بِإِسْحَٰقَ نَبِيًّا مِّنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ
Saheeh International (112) And We gave him good tidings of Isaac, a prophet from among the righteous.[1299]

وَبَٰرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰٓ إِسْحَٰقَ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا مُحْسِنٌ وَظَالِمٌ لِّنَفْسِهِۦ مُبِينٌ
Saheeh International (113) And We blessed him and Isaac. But among their descendants is the doer of good and the clearly unjust to himself [i.e., sinner].

وَلَقَدْ مَنَنَّا عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَٰرُونَ
Saheeh International (114) And We did certainly confer favor upon Moses and Aaron.

وَنَجَّيْنَٰهُمَا وَقَوْمَهُمَا مِنَ ٱلْكَرْبِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
Saheeh International (115) And We saved them and their people from the great affliction,

وَنَصَرْنَٰهُمْ فَكَانُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلْغَٰلِبِينَ
Saheeh International (116) And We supported them so it was they who overcame.

وَءَاتَيْنَٰهُمَا ٱلْكِتَٰبَ ٱلْمُسْتَبِينَ
Saheeh International (117) And We gave them the explicit Scripture [i.e., the Torah],

وَهَدَيْنَٰهُمَا ٱلصِّرَٰطَ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَ
Saheeh International (118) And We guided them on the straight path.

وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِمَا فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
Saheeh International (119) And We left for them [favorable mention] among later generations:

سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَٰرُونَ
Saheeh International (120) "Peace upon Moses and Aaron."

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
Saheeh International (121) Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.

إِنَّهُمَا مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
Saheeh International (122) Indeed, they were of Our believing servants.

وَإِنَّ إِلْيَاسَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
Saheeh International (123) And indeed, Elias was from among the messengers,

إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
Saheeh International (124) When he said to his people, "Will you not fear Allāh?

أَتَدْعُونَ بَعْلًا وَتَذَرُونَ أَحْسَنَ ٱلْخَٰلِقِينَ
Saheeh International (125) Do you call upon Baʿl[1300] and leave the best of creators -

ٱللَّهَ رَبَّكُمْ وَرَبَّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
Saheeh International (126) Allāh, your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers?"

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَإِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ
Saheeh International (127) And they denied him, so indeed, they will be brought [for punishment],

إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
Saheeh International (128) Except the chosen servants of Allāh.

وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
Saheeh International (129) And We left for him [favorable mention] among later generations:

سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰٓ إِلْ يَاسِينَ
Saheeh International (130) "Peace upon Elias."[1301]

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
Saheeh International (131) Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.

Saheeh International (132) Indeed, he was of Our believing servants.

وَإِنَّ لُوطًا لَّمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
Saheeh International (133) And indeed, Lot was among the messengers.

إِذْ نَجَّيْنَٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ
Saheeh International (134) [So mention] when We saved him and his family, all,

إِلَّا عَجُوزًا فِى ٱلْغَٰبِرِينَ
Saheeh International (135) Except an old woman [i.e., his wife] among those who remained [with the evildoers].

ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ
Saheeh International (136) Then We destroyed the others.

وَإِنَّكُمْ لَتَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْهِم مُّصْبِحِينَ
Saheeh International (137) And indeed, you pass by them in the morning
See all translations of this verse →
وَبِٱلَّيْلِ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ
Saheeh International (138) And at night. Then will you not use reason?

وَإِنَّ يُونُسَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
Saheeh International (139) And indeed, Jonah was among the messengers.

إِذْ أَبَقَ إِلَى ٱلْفُلْكِ ٱلْمَشْحُونِ
Saheeh International (140) [Mention] when he ran away to the laden ship.

فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُدْحَضِينَ
Saheeh International (141) And he drew lots[1302] and was among the losers.

فَٱلْتَقَمَهُ ٱلْحُوتُ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌ
Saheeh International (142) Then the fish swallowed him, while he was blameworthy.[1303]

فَلَوْلَآ أَنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَبِّحِينَ
Saheeh International (143) And had he not been of those who exalt Allāh,

لَلَبِثَ فِى بَطْنِهِۦٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ
Saheeh International (144) He would have remained inside its belly until the Day they are resurrected.[1304]

فَنَبَذْنَٰهُ بِٱلْعَرَآءِ وَهُوَ سَقِيمٌ
Saheeh International (145) But We threw him onto the open shore while he was ill.

وَأَنۢبَتْنَا عَلَيْهِ شَجَرَةً مِّن يَقْطِينٍ
Saheeh International (146) And We caused to grow over him a gourd vine.[1305]

وَأَرْسَلْنَٰهُ إِلَىٰ مِا۟ئَةِ أَلْفٍ أَوْ يَزِيدُونَ
Saheeh International (147) And We sent him[1306] to [his people of] a hundred thousand or more.

فَـَٔامَنُوا۟ فَمَتَّعْنَٰهُمْ إِلَىٰ حِينٍ
Saheeh International (148) And they believed, so We gave them enjoyment [of life] for a time.

فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَلِرَبِّكَ ٱلْبَنَاتُ وَلَهُمُ ٱلْبَنُونَ
Saheeh International (149) So inquire of them, [O Muḥammad], "Does your Lord have daughters while they have sons?[1307]

أَمْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ إِنَٰثًا وَهُمْ شَٰهِدُونَ
Saheeh International (150) Or did We create the angels as females while they were witnesses?"

أَلَآ إِنَّهُم مِّنْ إِفْكِهِمْ لَيَقُولُونَ
Saheeh International (151) Unquestionably, it is out of their [invented] falsehood that they say,

وَلَدَ ٱللَّهُ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَكَٰذِبُونَ
Saheeh International (152) "Allāh has begotten," and indeed, they are liars.

أَصْطَفَى ٱلْبَنَاتِ عَلَى ٱلْبَنِينَ
Saheeh International (153) Has He chosen daughters over sons?

مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ
Saheeh International (154) What is [wrong] with you? How do you make judgement?

أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ
Saheeh International (155) Then will you not be reminded?
See all translations of this verse →
أَمْ لَكُمْ سُلْطَٰنٌ مُّبِينٌ
Saheeh International (156) Or do you have a clear authority?[1308]

فَأْتُوا۟ بِكِتَٰبِكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ
Saheeh International (157) Then produce your scripture, if you should be truthful.

وَجَعَلُوا۟ بَيْنَهُۥ وَبَيْنَ ٱلْجِنَّةِ نَسَبًا وَلَقَدْ عَلِمَتِ ٱلْجِنَّةُ إِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ
Saheeh International (158) And they have made [i.e., claimed] between Him and the jinn a lineage, but the jinn have already known that they [who made such claims] will be brought [to punishment].

سُبْحَٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ
Saheeh International (159) Exalted is Allāh above what they describe,

إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
Saheeh International (160) Except the chosen servants of Allāh [who do not share in that sin].

فَإِنَّكُمْ وَمَا تَعْبُدُونَ
Saheeh International (161) So indeed, you [disbelievers] and whatever you worship,

مَآ أَنتُمْ عَلَيْهِ بِفَٰتِنِينَ
Saheeh International (162) You cannot tempt [anyone] away from Him

إِلَّا مَنْ هُوَ صَالِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
Saheeh International (163) Except he who is to [enter and] burn in the Hellfire.[1309]

وَمَا مِنَّآ إِلَّا لَهُۥ مَقَامٌ مَّعْلُومٌ
Saheeh International (164) [The angels say],[1310] "There is not among us any except that he has a known position.[1311]

وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلصَّآفُّونَ
Saheeh International (165) And indeed, we are those who line up [for prayer].

وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلْمُسَبِّحُونَ
Saheeh International (166) And indeed, we are those who exalt Allāh."

وَإِن كَانُوا۟ لَيَقُولُونَ
Saheeh International (167) And indeed, they [i.e., the disbelievers] used to say,[1312]

لَوْ أَنَّ عِندَنَا ذِكْرًا مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
Saheeh International (168) "If we had a message from [those of] the former peoples,

لَكُنَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
Saheeh International (169) We would have been the chosen servants of Allāh."

فَكَفَرُوا۟ بِهِۦ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ
Saheeh International (170) But they disbelieved in it,[1313] so they are going to know.

وَلَقَدْ سَبَقَتْ كَلِمَتُنَا لِعِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
Saheeh International (171) And Our word [i.e., decree] has already preceded for Our servants, the messengers,

إِنَّهُمْ لَهُمُ ٱلْمَنصُورُونَ
Saheeh International (172) [That] indeed, they would be those given victory
See all translations of this verse →
وَإِنَّ جُندَنَا لَهُمُ ٱلْغَٰلِبُونَ
Saheeh International (173) And [that] indeed, Our soldiers [i.e., the believers] will be those who overcome.[1314]

فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ
Saheeh International (174) So, [O Muḥammad], leave them for a time.

وَأَبْصِرْهُمْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ
Saheeh International (175) And see [what will befall] them, for they are going to see.
See all translations of this verse →
أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ
Saheeh International (176) Then for Our punishment are they impatient?
See all translations of this verse →
فَإِذَا نَزَلَ بِسَاحَتِهِمْ فَسَآءَ صَبَاحُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ
Saheeh International (177) But when it descends in their territory, then evil is the morning of those who were warned.

وَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ
Saheeh International (178) And leave them for a time.
See all translations of this verse →
وَأَبْصِرْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ
Saheeh International (179) And see, for they are going to see.
See all translations of this verse →
سُبْحَٰنَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ ٱلْعِزَّةِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ
Saheeh International (180) Exalted is your Lord, the Lord of might, above what they describe.

وَسَلَٰمٌ عَلَى ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
Saheeh International (181) And peace upon the messengers.

وَٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ
Saheeh International (182) And praise to Allāh, Lord of the worlds.
