وَلَوْلَا كَلِمَةٌ سَبَقَتْ مِن رَّبِّكَ لَكَانَ لِزَامًا وَأَجَلٌ مُّسَمًّى
Saheeh International(129) And if not for a word[866] that preceded from your Lord, it [i.e., punishment] would have been an obligation [due immediately],[867] and [if not for] a specified term [decreed].
English Translation - Rowwad Translation CenterWere it not for a prior decree from your Lord[49] [O Prophet] and a time already set, they would have already been punished[50].
English Translation - Hilali and Khan129. And had it not been for a Word that went forth before from your Lord, and a term determined, (their punishment) must necessarily have come (in this world).
