يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ ٱلصِّيَامُ كَمَا كُتِبَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ
Saheeh International(183) O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous -
English Translation - Rowwad Translation CenterO you who believe, fasting[80] is prescribed upon you as it was prescribed upon those who were before you, so that you may become righteous.
English Translation - Hilali and Khan183. O you who believe! Observing As-Saum (the fasting)[36] is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may become Al-Muttaqûn (the pious - See V.2: 2).
